The popular, live theater event “Storyteller’s Night at Jesse Brown’s” returns on September 19th, 2019, with three brand new stories from the people who lived, created & now share them. Each story lasts twenty minutes, after which there is a brief Q & A before the next storyteller takes the stage.
What’s in store for the attendees on September 19th besides some food, drink & good community?
TALES from BOUNDARY WATERS by Rob Odum
Our evening begins with an invitation of a friend. This is how many of us are introduced into sports, events & life changing moments. In fact, it is how many of us begin any adventure, with encouragement or invitation of a person that we trust. In this case, the destination is northeastern Minnesota & the one million acres that make up the Boundary Waters. Rob Odum is our storyteller & invitee that witnessed the wildlife, the birds, mosquitoes and … Black Flies.
We’ll also learn about the native way of transportation over the numerous lakes, hundreds of canoe routes & portages. But most importantly we’ll learn about the memories made, friendships enhanced & the continued legacy of a trip gone by. A trip to a beautiful & pristine place.
FINISH the WALL by Joel Davis The middle story on this evening is the evolution of a man & how it can help make the world a better place. During this early fall season a lot of churches & groups travel in order to do mission work. Whether it be building a hospital, a church or a community building, the goal is to give a gift of helpfulness. However, what do you do when your gift of mission isn’t as helpful as it seemed a the time. Joel Davis went through this type of trip & felt a “heaviness.” Then he founded a non-profit organization, Finish the Wall, that travels the globe working in partnership with mission teams.
During this story we’ll find out about a calling, travel & the effect that one man’s vision has had on others.
BE YOUR OWN GUIDE by Cordelia Anderson
Our final story of Storyteller’s Night at Jesse Brown’s involves an adventure that evolved into clarity of purpose for Cordelia Anderson.
It is her story & the influence of a 2016 cycling trip to Europe with a group of strangers. From this adventure came her article “10 things cycling from Paris to London taught me about work,” first published in 2016 on LinkedIn. Interwoven into the story is her personal & professional journey & her willingness to share her insights and wisdom learned from experiences professionally & courage developed through adventure & self investment as a solopreneur.
