Troop 67 Visits Jesse Brown’s
Boy Scout Troop 67 made a Monday night visit to Jesse Brown’s-Sharon Corners to learn a bit more about the gear that make hiking & camping trips a bit more enjoyable.
You can hear Don Yager & Bill Bartee from Jesse Brown’s Outdoors, every Saturday morning from 5 –6 a.m. on WBT 1110 AM/ 99.3 FM on the Carolina Outdoors program or at www.wbt.com
Church then the Bitches!?!
Report from Wales:
“Today was a free day, so we scheduled a boat tour around Ramsey Island through the Bitches. The water was wild and the scenery was outstanding. In the morning before we went we had a tour of St David’s Cathedral to guarantee our safety on the water.”
-this is an updated post from emails and photos from Peggy & Windy, the travelling sisters. Nothing stated here can be used in a court of law. www.jessebrown.com
What does Puffin Country Mean?
What does Puffin Country Mean? A place where cigars, cigarettes & pipes are welcome? No. It’s where the bird lives.
Peggy: “We took a boat to Skomer Island (off the coast of Wales), a bird sanctuary, where we saw cute Puffins. We also saw black backed gulls that prey on the other birds. There also was a Peregrin Falcon looking out from the cliff. After a pub stop on the way home, Windy mimmicked the guide’s description of a whooping crane being harassed by falcons.”
Thankfully Windy’s impression isn’t on video or we would have uploaded it here.
Keep up the great work “travelling Sisters”. Hopefully, they won’t meet the Duchess of York & offer her $20 to meet Prince Andrew. That would mean big trouble. www.jessebrown.com
The Sisters in Wales!
They’re continuing their adventure from Ireland into Wales.
Here’s the latest scoop from Peggy & Windy.
“Our guide Ian picked us up at the ferry in Fishguard and drove us to St David’s, the smallest city in Britain. Today we hiked 8 miles along the coast of Wales from St David’s to St Non’s and to the life boat station. We could see Ramsey Island across a section of rough water called The Bitches.
It was a beautiful day and we saw fishing boats, kayaks and life boat exercises with helicopter. We also saw wild flowers, Welsh ponies, sheep and cows. Only 2 people tripped and fell and, luckily, it wasn’t Windy or Peggy.
Keep those kness up, walking tall; so they’ll be no tripping.
….As the Sisters Travel!?!?
“We are at Riverevale Bed & Breakfast by the Blackwater River. This river is known for flyfishing for salmon and trout [travel fly rods available at Jesse Brown’s].
Last night we walked in the rain [get raincoats at Jesse Brown’s starting at $99] across the bridge to eat dinner. The salmon was delicious.
This morning the sun is shining [did you know that Jesse Brown’s Outdoors was a Smith Sunglass dealer] and we took some pictures by the river.
When we return to the B&B, Jody greets us with a bark [Granite Gear Dog Pack from a certain-Charlotte area store].”
You never know when an international incident could occur with the two sisters abroad.
Travelers Continue their Adventure
The Travelling Sisters are still in Ireland. Having arrived at the Ballyseede Castle despite time differences, Icelandic Volcano eruptions & an unusual interest in finding a leprachaun; their family members knew that driving on the “wrong” side of the road would be interesting for these travelers.
With Peggy as the designated driver (no matter what) & Windy the passenger (in all instances); no one thought about how challenging it would also be as a passenger, with the differences in steering wheel-side versus passenger-side
Below is their lasting entry after an inquiry about how the driving was going:
Peggy: “It is a little difficult…Windy keeps being alarmed At how close the rock walls are to her. I thought I was doing pretty well until my side mirror hit the side mirror of a parked car this afternoon…fortunately we got covered totally by insurance…the car already had lots of bumps and bruises.”
Travelers Arriving in Ireland
We.re at a castle tonite. Staying in b/c we, I, don’t want to drive anymore today.
Love, Windy and Peggy
