Jesse Brown’s prepares for the fall fishing season with the addition of Lead Guide & Fly Fishing Instructor, Elijah Saint Blancard. He joins the experienced staff of outfitters & outdoor advisors at Charlotte’s local fly shop & outdoor store after working several years within the outdoor industry.
“Fly fishing has been a foundation of the Jesse Brown’s business since the 1970s,” says Jesse Brown’s owner, Bill Bartee. “We’ve been fortunate to have some of the best fly instructors in the business & have helped teach Charlotte how to fly fish. Elijah’s addition continues this tradition & we’re extremely excited to add his experience & talent.”
Saint Blancard was taught fly fishing initially by the famed fly fisherman & Penn State instructor, Joe Humphreys. This foundation has been built upon for the past twenty-five years & includes fishing some of Pennsylvania’s most technical & iconic streams. Although he was taught by a legend, Saint Blancard has a very patient & encouraging style that is rich in experience.
During his career, he has been fortunate to travel all over the United States to fish. Saint Blancard also completed the guide school at WorldCast Anglers in Victor, Idaho where he was able to hone is skills in rowing, river safety, entomology, & the overall communication & instruction of the sport of fly fishing.
Elijah has been a licensed guide in North Carolina for the past six years. His greatest passion is teaching the sport of fly fishing while continually learning himself. Besides fly fishing & fly tying, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Lauren, their dogs & working in the garden.
The new person at the helm of lead fly fishing guide & instructor will bring more offerings to the Charlotte fly shop. In addition to the one person, two person, & three person fly fishing wade trips in North Carolina, Jesse Brown’s will also offer a float trip option. There is also excitement in the expansion of their fly tying department & building on a curriculum for youth fly fishing camps & schools during the year as well.
These additions will be ongoing through the fall & into 2024. Saint Blancard is scheduled to speak to the Carolina Fly Fishing Club on 10/11 & will be an ongoing contributor to the popular, podcast powered by Jesse Brown’s: Highlights of the Carolina Outdoors.
