The Quarry at Carrigan Farms with Doug Carrigan

What better way to beat the heat on a summer day than by cooling off at a refreshing swimming hole? In the Charlotte area, Carrigan Farms is a local favorite for swimming, relaxing, getting a bite to eat, and more. Hear Doug Carrigan share about this refreshing natural quarry, the farm, and all the summer fun at Carrigan Farms!

Segment Highlights:

  • The Quarry at Carrigan Farms was formed in the late 1960s, when a half million tons of stone were taken to build I-77. When it filled with water, it became a fun swimming hole for the Carrigan family and friends!
  • Water temperatures at the quarry are typically in the high 70s and low 80s – cooler and more refreshing than a backyard swimming pool, which will heat up more in the summer sun.
  • The quarry is three times cleaner than water at Lake Wylie and Lake Norman
  • Carrigan Farms is a 5th generation farm in Mooresville, NC
  • Besides the Quarry, the farm also offers fresh fruit and vegetables, is a corporate venue and wedding venue, and has a haunted trail in the fall.
  • With the Quarry entrance fee, you also have access to two fishing ponds on the property.
  • Open swim also features a platform jump and rope swing into the water.
  • Food is served at open swim, including hamburgers and hotdogs with farm-fresh toppings grown at Carrigan Farms
  • When visiting, swimmers must wear a life jacket unless you pass a swim test, which includes treading water, doing a pull-up, and swimming across the quarry,
