The Most Versatile Shorts There Are

When it comes to fan favorites it’s hard to beat a pair of the iconic Patagonia Baggies shorts. A resurgence in people getting outside, combined with work-from-home dress codes, have kept the venerable Baggies in the fashion game for close to 40 years. But why?

Customers frequently ask us how can they use Baggies. Are they swim trunks? Can you hike in them? What about a day trip on the Virginia Creeper Trail? Is it OK to wear these to the brewery? The answer is unequivocally YES. If you can wear shorts for that activity, or to that place, then you can wear Patagonia Baggies anytime, anywhere.

The recycled nylon fabric is lightweight and treated with DWR (Durable Water Repellent) just like rain gear, so it sheds water and dries faster. Many lightweight shorts, and especially swim trunks, are not flattering to say the least. The fabric used by Patagonia along with the design of the hemlines allows these shorts to look great as well as feel great. The front pockets are nearly as deep as the inseam and feature drain and dry corners. The men’s shorts have a black mesh liner and a rear snap pocket.

Men’s Baggies come in 5” and 7” inseams. Women’s are available in 5” and 2.5”. The real fun comes in the bright color options and vibrant patterns that have made these shorts so popular since 1982.
