MyOutdoorJoy – Part Two

MyOutdoorJoy was founded by James Smith with the goal of helping people learn how to be outdoors. People are exposed to the outdoors less and less due to changing cultural, situational, and generational circumstances. MyOutdoorJoy aims to change that with classes, adventure, and reflection.

In Part Two of this week’s episode, James Smith discusses how the company has grown and adapted over the past few years, including rebranding, team building, and more.

What to Know:

  • Classes offered by MyOutdoorJoy cover topics like intro to hiking, canning, backpacking, kayaking, leave no trace, using a compass, and more.
  • As MyOutdoorJoy has grown, it has adapted to various requests and needs. It now works with corporate clients, offering membership as an HR benefit. James discusses more about these partnerships and the benefits to smaller companies.
  • The company has also adapted to offer private events, like small-group camping trips or kayaking classes.
  • James is most passionate about educating adults on how to enjoy the outdoors. He talks about his “inner child” and how important it is that humans do not forget that as they age.
