Fatherhood and the Outdoors

“Dawn at the River”, a recent article in Sporting Classics, reflects on the impact of a son on his father. With Father’s Day approaching, its writer, Charles Ray Matthews, joins the Carolina Outdoors to talk about his article, memories of fatherhood, and life in the outdoors. Hear Ray share nostalgia, impact, and the betterment of life in the outdoors.

When he was a child, Ray’s father would wake him up early on Saturday morning and take him fishing. Now, those are some of Ray’s fondest memories. When he had children of his own, he took them fishing and hunting and spent time with them outside.
