Storyteller’s Night just might be one of our favorite things here at Jesse Brown’s. it’s a pretty simple formula, actually. Three great guests with their own stories of adventure, discovery, travel, or experience; snacks and beers, and a bunch of comfy chairs to kick back in. What’s not to like?
If you missed our September installment of Storyteller’s Night — or just want a second look — we thought it would be fun to recall the evening’s stories as told in tweets!
Mimi & Me
Our first guest was Catherine Farley, author of the series of children’s books about Mimi the deer and her adventures along the North Carolina beaches. Yeah, she was nervous, but that made her story that much more real. We loved hearing about how family vacations shaped her stories and the characters in the books! Check out the stories at http://www.explorewithmimi.com
Farley, “we’d always try to find a book that reminded us of our family trips.” #storytellers

Signs of the Times
Our man Christopher Lawing has many talents. (Yes, the very same Christopher Lawing you’ll meet here most every day at Jesse Brown’s.) As an eight generation Charlottean, he and his family have seen some changes. Christopher chose to highlight the bygone area of big, bold, mid-century modern style through his photography. We can’t wait for his book! Until then, see some of his pictures at https://www.cltsignsproject.com/
Lawing, and 8th generation Charlottean, has seen a LOT of change!

Why Bo Talks
Well, for starters, Bo Thompson gets paid to do just that at WBT 1110AM. But we wanted to know the backstory on how this Charlotte native went from voyeur of some of Charlotte’s most notable radio voices — to being one in his own right. We love Bo for telling it like is, and keeping it all in perspective for folks who lived Charlotte’s history and those who’ll be part of its future.
@BoThompsonWBT “I’m usually telling stories about other people, not my story.”

What’s next at Jesse Brown’s:
Glad you asked! Coming up on October 11, we welcome our pal and pro photographer, Michael C. Hernandez. He’s going to show us how to use our mobile phones to take pro style pictures — just in time for tailgating and leaf season!
Why Now Wednesday with Michael Hernandez
October 14, we’ll host our second Young Guns Fly Fishing Social. We’ll have fly tying “how to’s,” casting lessons, and skills contests, as well as stories from stream side (and who knows where else!) from our friend and fishing guide, Tucker Horne.
