The 1976 Bikecentennial Coast-to-Coast Ride

On this episode of the Carolina Outdoors, we’re going 50 years back in time – to bell-bottoms, sideburns, feathered hair, and the beginning of disco. The year is 1976, and Jonathan Miller, this week’s guest, is a college student taking part in a coast-to-coast bike ride, “Bikecentennial,” with 90 other riders. Learn more about Jonathan’s experience, how he began cycling, the 50th reunion this year, and more.

What You’ll Learn:

  • How Jonathan became involved in the bike trip through his school, Ambassador College
  • How the group cooked, cleaned, and were supported by the community
  • What the route across America looked like
  • How Jonathan completed his goal of biking through the lower 48 states this year!
  • Details of this year’s 50th reunion of the Bikecentennial
