Podcast: Play in new window
As a winter storm approaches Charlotte, Bill and TJ talk about snow day activities and safety. From movies to card games to safe driving, the Carolina Outdoors covers what you need to be prepared for winter weather.
Snow Day Activities:
- Movie marathon? Card games? Puzzles? What’s your go-to activity when you’re stuck in the house?
- Snow days are a great time to clean, organize, or sort through hunting gear, fishing gear, and other chores you don’t often get around to.
- If you’re outside, slow down and pay attention to the beauty of a snow day! Don’t miss the magic and quiet of the stillness.
Safety Tips:
- With ice in the forecast, make sure you’re only driving when necessary, and driving safely! That means letting all the ice defrost off your windshield before you drive.
- Drive slower than usual, and increase following distance.
- Brake gently, and with no sudden turns.
- If you start to slide on ice, turn the wheel in the direction that you want the front of the car to go. Don’t slam on the brakes – just take your foot off the gas.
Cold temperatures are here to stay for a few weeks. Make sure you’re prepared with warm gear! Jesse Brown’s is Charlotte’s one-stop shop for winter coats, fleece, layers, and more! Stop by the store or shop online HERE.
