I fished the Yadkin river club yesterday with long time customer Scott and his son Stewart. The temperature was in the low 70’s and it was slightly overcast which made the fishing great. We caught quite a few fish most over 18″ and Stewart caught a nice looking 24″ rainbow.
I also had the opportunity last week to fish the Davidson river. The river looks good although the water will probably be a little high within the next few days because of rain. Terrestrials are starting to come off and black ants seem to do the trick. The fish are also feeding on small black caddis, black and red midge larva and zebra midges. Just because delayed harvest waters are no longer fishable that doesn’t mean we can’t fish for trout. With hundreds of wild trout streams in NC and plenty of float fishing opportunities you can still get out and catch trout.
