We know how much you love on your YETI Cooler; we love ours, too! And we know how jealous everyone else is when they reach into that stone cold box and pluck a frosty bev from underneath a mountain of ice. Show off your YETI pride, or just rub it in a little more on your buddies when you sport this killer YETI gear from Jesse Brown’s! And, yes! We’ve got the YETI Cooler truck bed locks and Sidekick, too!

Summer’s here! Get out there!
Memorial Day means summer’s just about here, and it’s time to get outdoors! Hiking for recreation is one of the oldest “sports” out there, and there are miles and miles of trails and greenways to explore and enjoy in and around the Charlotte area. Go see sights “off the beaten path”; it won’t be about the destination but about the journey, as well. File these little bits away for when you’re ready to roll!
Make your hiking shoes your most comfortable, supportive shoes. This ain’t the place to cut corners. Go to the experts.
Prepare for your hike. Outline your trip, let others know your timetable and itinerary.
Be considerate of others. Hikers yield to bikers, and everyone yields to horseback riders.
When in doubt, re-lace. If your shoes or boots are giving you trouble then re-lace. Try it tighter if it’s too loose, or looser if it’s too tight. Listen to your feet. They never lie.
Always get water from the stillest area of the creek or river, then treat it. Moving water stirs more sediments & fills filters quicker. The sediments are more settled
in still water.
Carry a whistle or noisemaker, just in case you need some help.
Be aware of your surroundings, especially at the trailhead. That’s where the most things can happen, security-wise.
Performance polyesters & wicking fabrics are more comfortable. They wick, dry quick & many offer forms of sun protection, too!
So there you have it! Many of your favorite Jesse Brown’s brands can make the transition from lifestyle to outdoors with little to no effort. You’ve got the goods, now get out there and enjoy.

Old Faithful
You didn’t think this was going to be about Yellowstone, did you? Well, you’re not completely off the mark. Walking though this morning’s downpour reminded us that there’s something about reliable rain gear. At Jesse Brown’s Outdoors, we believe a faithful piece of gear you can go to is more than worth it’s weight in gold when you need it; whether that means you’re trying to get over a mountain pass, or just past the next couple of parking spaces without getting soaked.
It can certainly make or break your day, that’s for sure. And who hasn’t found themselves ready to face the day, only to find the day isn’t quite ready to cooperate. At least not weather-wise. We feel it’s downright confidence inspiring the way having the rain gear to face the weather can keep you more than dry. It can keep you in the right frame of mind, too.
If you think the only way to weather a storm means donning a frumpy, yellow slicker like Paddington Bear or that guy on the fish commercials, think again. Fabrics and styles have come a long way – even in recent years. Modern materials and coatings mean greater breathability, lighter weight and freedom of movement. All things to consider especially as we approach the warmer – and generally wetter weather – of spring. And yes, there’s a whole world of difference between water repellent and waterproof! We’ll be happy to translate.
And you’ll look as good as you feel in cuts and styles from your favorite Jesse Brown’s brands, like Patagonia, The North Faceand Barbour, just to name a few. So whether your rain gear needs to ride out the storm in the backcountry, on the way to the country club, or anywhere in between, you won’t be out of place. Jesse Brown’s Outdoors can outfit you in the rain gear you can rely on that’s just as fashionable as it is functional. Anyone tells you different, they’re all wet.
Look for us this weekend and next at the Southern Spring Home & Garden Show for more great outdoor gear and apparel ideas to weather the upcoming season!
Weather Update: Closed Wednesday
Due to the winter weather conditions we are closing for the day (Wednesday, February 12). We will update this with our Thursday hours once determined. Enjoy the snow!
Jesse Brown’s Welcomes Tony Tomkinson
Jesse Brown’s hosts an informal get-together January 21st with author, safari guide and award-winning hunter, Tony Tomkinson. Tomkinson parlayed his love of the outdoors and a career as a professional Game Ranger into a successful family-owned business. As a professional hunter, historian, photographer and cultural guide operating throughout southern Africa, Tomkinson is a one-man treasure chest of first-hand adventure stories.
Tony came to the hunting industry after having spent 18 years as a senior and chief game ranger in the national parks of Zululand, in his native South Africa. He went on to start his own company, Tomkinson African Safaris, in 1986. SInce then, he’s guided travelers from around the world through southern Africa and what he calls, “this highly addictive continent.” Having been raised in the wine country of the African Cape, Tony is well-versed in South African wines and the wine country. Tony is also an ocean yacht and powerboat captain who pioneered deep sea fly fishing on the east coast of South Africa.
Friends here in Charlotte say whether your interests are big game, bird shooting, fly fishing, photography or general travel, his stories and descriptions of Africa will have you ready to take him up on his invitation to cross the Atlantic and share a campfire and a glass of wine and have him share more from the “cradle of mankind.” Come meet meet Tony and enjoy an evening with us here at Jesse Brown’s. Thank you for reading and we recommend to try
