(Charlotte, NC) – The Fly Fishing Film Tour -Charlotte (F3T-Charlotte) was a great success as anglers, travellers & conservationalist converged on the Visulite Theatre for an evening of entertainmnet.
Bill Bartee, of Jesse Brown’s, kicked off the evening by welcoming the moviegoers & recognizing the clubs that “complement”
each other in the Charlotte-area: Carolina Fly Fishing Club, CCA Charlotte chapter, Project Healing Waters & Rocky River Trout Unlimited.
The movies took us around the world and through lots of species; from the Potomac to the Midwest & Steelhead to Triggerfish.
We also saw the Tour maturing from their start as “fish porn” to a more educating and involved storyline of conservation & diversity. Although there were plenty of laughs and entertainment along the way.
At the intermission tons of prizes were given away from Costa Del Mar sunglasses (congrats Joyce Shepherd) to Fly Lines (time to fish with that SA fly line, Rhett Bhost). Gift bags from Jesse Brown’s were a part of the raffle that included the Jesse Brown’s Facebook page. Eventgoers had the opportunity to LIKE, check in or post to be registered as well as folks doing it the old fashioned way, by just taking a raffle ticket.
RRTU and Project Healing Waters both had raffles going on. A Rod and Reel combo from RRTU and a bamboo custom from Project Healing Waters.
Just under 200 folks attended from novices with a curiousity of the sport to experienced anglers that have fished around the world.
“The F3T acts as the great equalizer in bringing people together with a common interest: Flyfishing. It makes no difference in generation or gender…social folks or introverts. The Film Tour helps us get pumped for the upcoming year of fishing & travel; & allows us to make our own individual pursuits an adventure,” according to Bill Bartee of Jesse Brown’s.
Wilson Gabriel of Jesse Brown’s, the DryFly Angler, himself offered up a trip down the Catawba for two people. We’re making this a campaign for Facebook. Head over to the JB’s page to play. Drawing at the end of the month.
Stay tuned for our upcoming events.
